Where and when did you get married?

What made you choose your location and was it everything you expected?
We wanted somewhere intimate, luxurious and set amongst the beautiful hinterlands. It was everything we expected and more.
When you think back to your wedding day, what’s the one thing that you loved the most (apart from marrying your hubby!!)?
I loved that we had a small wedding. The only people who werethere were the most special people in our lives, the people we really wanted there. Because we had less than 40 guests we were really able to spoil everyone who came. And at Spicers, they specialise in providing the ultimate luxurious experience. We couldn’t fault our venue. The service, the beauty salon, the rooms, the location, the food… oh my, the food!
Your wedding day was wonderful, but if there was one thing/detail you could change about it, what would it be?
I actually don’t regret anything except sometimes maybe my dress. I felt like I’d exhausted every option in Brisbane and almost rushed to pick a dress in the end. It was beautiful, but maybe not “me”. On reflection I should probably have travelled a little further to find “the one”.
What was the best advice you received whilst planning that helped you?
Even though we were on a budget, and wanted to really spend where it mattered, we looked into a wedding planner and stylist. After a quick conversation with Trudi from Lovebirds we knew we needed her on our wedding day. It was so much more enjoyable and relaxed for our closest family and friends, as she takes the little roles off them that can sometimes be stressful to ensure they have just as amazing day as everyone else. Please share your top 3 tips for future brides to make the most of the planning and the experience of their big day?
- My top tip for planning is to get a planner haha… Hiring Trudi from Lovebirds was probably the best decision we made. She created a comprehensive brief after an involved questionnaire and made our dream day come alive before our every eyes. She stuck to a budget, sourced suppliers and booked and arranged everything. - I also found having Trudi as the stylist helped enormously to take the stress off. We couldn’t have made it almost as beautiful without her. We still made some of the little decorations and invitations bonbonierres, but the bigger, more stressful stuff was done by Trudi and her girls.
- Take a break from the professional photos and get some really fun ones with your friends. It’s easy to get over smiling and posing on the day, but the natural photos just hanging out with your husband and besties will be the ones you love the most.
